Sesame Place Highlights:
The park features a great assortment of Sesame Street-themed rides, shows, water rides, events, and attractions geared to younger children, luding:
Vapor Trail coaster
Sesame Neighborhood- Replica of the famous street.
Elmo's World themed land
Sesame Streak water slides
New at Sesame Place:
New for 2009: The Count's Splash Castle
The interactive water play center will lude valves, sprayers, and dozens of other gizmos for guests to soak themselves and each other. It will also lude water slides and water curtains, and will be capped off by a giant tipping bucket with an image of Sesame Street's number-crunching character, The Count.
New for 2008: Sunny Day Carousel Instead of the standard menagerie, this carousel features Muppet-like horses and Snuffleupagus benches. Its calliope plays Sesame Street tunes.
Themed to the landmark PBS children's show, Sesame Place is designed for a pre-teen audience with a special emphasis on the program's preschool audience. Granted, the park offers a coaster, spinning rides, and other attractions typically found at parks. But the relatively small Sesame Place foregoes the hyper-adrenalized atmosphere of a Six Flags in favor of a more low-key vibe. Reflecting the whimsy of the show and its Muppet stars, it features unique opportunities to visit mock-ups of the famous street and interact with the iconic, cuddly characters. And like the show, there are some "edutainment" attractions such as a fruit stand that encourages kids to pick out produce and ring up their sales.
Don't forget your bathing suits. In addition to the dry rides, Sesame Place offers a good collection of water slides and other water park attractions, luding Big Bird's Rambling River, the family raft ride Sky Splash, and a mini wave pool that's ideal for mini guests. The park also presents musical shows, a daily parade, and an ongoing schedule of special events such as fireworks and concerts. In October, Sesame Place presents a scare-free Halloween festival.
It may seem odd that Busch Entertainment, a division of brewery giant, Anheuser-Bush (and owner of the Seaworld and Busch Gardens parks), is operating a theme park geared to young children. But rest assured, there isn't a bottle of Budweiser to be found at the kid-centric Sesame Place.
Celebrate all season long as 2010 marks the 30th birthday of Sesame Place, the nations only theme park based entirely on the award-winning television show Sesame Street. Ideal for families with young children, it is the place where parents and children can share in the spirit of imagination and experience Sesame Street together through whirling rides, water slides, colorful shows and furry friends. Located just 30 minutes north of Philadelphia and 90 minutes south of New York City, Sesame Place is the place for kids and the kid in all of us.
